Clara City Library History

In 1937, a local civic organization, the Priscilla Club, began promoting the idea of a library.  Through donations, fundraisers and the aid of the Village Council a library was started in a small rented room above the Clara City State Bank in October of 1937.  In 1952, 1976 and again in February of 2005 the library was in need of additional space and moved into new facilities.

The Clara City Public Library was originally governed by a local library board, but in 1960 became part of the Chippewa County Library, and in 1984 joined the Pioneerland Library System.  There are 32 libraries in the Pioneerland Library System.
